We're coming to the end of Teacher Appreciation Week, but it's always a good time to thank a teacher!  Who were some of your memorable teachers?

While you're thinking back, check out the video clip of Pat Mora's beautiful poem, "Ode to Teachers," in our updated Teacher Appreciation Section!

I'll never forget reading my first book in Mrs. Gregg's first-grade class at Kistler Elementary in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  It began with the line, "I see a deer"  -- my first sentence! I also remember flashcards that revolved around a girl named Millie. The card that sticks in my memory was the one showing a picture of a thumb that had been hit with a hammer for the "ow" sound. Ouch!  Mrs. Gregg taught me to read and write through stories, "Bookworm" book reports, trips to the school library, and field trips.  It worked! :) Thanks, Mrs. Gregg!
